Last year Gareth Edwards gave the world the minimal but equally monstrous entry, Monsters. Atmospheric and emotional it did the trick and showed that its leads Whitney Able and Scoot McNairy had a lot of promise and it was only a matter of time before their names would start cropping up in other projects as well.
Turns out that we didn’t have to wait that long, not only has Scoot McNairy got his name down for Cogan’s Trade alongside Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta and Tony Soprano (also known as James Gandolfini) Variety have reported that he’s also signed to star in Ben Affleck’s upcoming clever little number, Argo. Both directed and starring Affleck the film tells the true story of a group of CIA agents that in 1979 posed as a film crew working on a sci-fi film but were really aiming to rescue a group of U.S. diplomats in Tehran. The film already has a blinding cast coming together in the form of Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Alan Arkin but it’s uncertain where McNairy comes into the mix.
So far Argo sounds like a huge break from not McNairy’s last outing as well as Ben ‘I Love Boston, Me’ Affleck. Fine by us, we’re looking forward to see the end result.
