Morpheus Is In For Man of Steel

What with all the pitch perfect casting choices made for the top players of  Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel film we almost forgot about some of the supporting folk that will help Superman’s world go round.

You can’t blame us really, after flailing our arms around in geekish glee when Henry Cavill was announced to take the lead as Clark Kent aka Superman, winking at our screens in approval when Amy Adams signed on for Lois Lane and picking our jaws up off the desk when names like Crowe (who will be Supe’s Dad, Jor-El), Costner (Earth Dad, Pa Kent) and erm, Shannon (General frikkin’ Zod) were thrown in as well it was easy to see why other roles slipped our minds. Namely ruler of The Daily Planet and shouts-a-lot superior editor, Perry White who has been confirmed to be played by Laurence Fishburne.

The LA Times got wind of this recent casting confirmation and revealed that the man that was Morpheus is now set to be the only fella who will give Superman bother that doesn’t shoot lasers from his eyes or carry around Kryptonite just because he feels like it. The folks from Screen 22 are all in agreement that Fishburne has the minerals to step up to just such a task and we can’t wait to see what he does with it.

Fishburne who will soon be spotted covering his mouth and knocking back Lemsip’s in Soderbergh’s upcoming Contagion will be following on from the likes of Frank Langella who played the part in Superman Returns and the late Jackie Cooper who nailed it in the Richard Donner red and blue tinted gem back in 1978.

Expect Jimmy Olsen related news to come flying in fast (not faster than a speeding bullet mind but quick as we can, promise). With this recent update though what do you think? Is it a thumbs up or down for Mr. Fishburne?
