What is it with modern films casting for centuries before they actually start production? Surely by now they must be down to people walking behind in the background, trying hard to not look at the camera. Perhaps that’s what James Remar, Tom Wopat, James Russo and Todd Allen have been signed on to do…
I can’t see much point in explaining the plot again but just in case there’s a few nomads living under rocks out there: Jamie Foxx plays Django who escapes captivity to go out after his kidnapped wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) and get plenty of revenge along the way. He meets and sometimes fights the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio (an evil ranch owner), Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Tom Savini, Don Johnson, Gerald McRaney, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Instead of being extras in the background however, it is reported that Remar and Russo are due to play Ace and Dicky Speck, a pair of slave trading brothers who buy Django. Wopat will be Marshall Gill Tatum and Allen is plantation boss Dollar Bill.
Production is due to start in January with a 2012 boxing day release.
