It’s been a heck of a year for cinema, not only did The King’s Speech triumph at The Oscars and put the UK back on the film map in the year that we lost the UK Film Council, but the top three films at the box-office this year were all made by us Brits too – oddly none of them feature in the lists from Screen 22 HQ – maybe we just don’t like public opinion and favoritism? Hmmm.
They were The Inbetweeners Movie, The King’s Speech and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The writers of the site were asked to pick two favourites of the year – films that shone for them, whether it be due to a stand-out performance or a unique plot or even just because it featured ace action stunts, and one film that epitomises their most awful cinematic experience of 2011.
We wound up with one duplicate entry, which is the rather epic Senna, which we’re not going to complain about, The Academy might though. Feel free to voice your comments about your own favouites and failures and here’s to an even better 2012!
