The Best Of Boardwalk Empire

This week the Emmy award winning TV series, Boardwalk Empire will be hitting the shelves for us all to take home. Giving us another dose of Atlantic City set drama jammed with bullets, broads and Steve Buscemi. If you haven’t guessed already, we can’t wait to get our hands on a copy.

Now to celebrate our return trip to the 1920′s we’ve had a look back at the incredible introductory season and picked our best bits that left us hooked long enough to yearn for the second series and wonder why the hell a DVD box set hasn’t been released yet. Pass judgement and see if your most memorable moments are amongst them immediately. Also, for those that might have missed the Boardwalk boat (shame on you) be warned, there are spoilers ahead…

“Well, you made me pregnant.”

To start things off we’ll look to telly’s looniest lawman with a badge, Agent Van Alden, who got a shock in the final episode. As the first season progressed the law enforcer slowly turned out to be a self-harming, overly keen baptiser who has a one night stand with the wrong woman.

The fact that he ended up sleeping with Nuck’s ex-lover is bad enough but the bombshell dropped in the post office was one that left us gobsmacked. With a wife back home desperate for a child and a woman on the side now carrying one, we can only dread what our favourite prohibition agent will do should this dark secret finally see light. God help you Agent Van Alden because we doubt anyone else will.

Born and bred in the badass streets of Nottingham, not much is known about Nick. He is a top secret operative whose often blunt and brutal opinion on films has started bar fights and split up families. He also likes long walks on the beach, freshly cut grass and the stunned silence of a ‘Twilight’ fan when he tells them the film series is average at best.
