Mark Ruffalo To Tackle Foxcatcher

Mark Ruffalo may sign on to co-star in Foxcatcher, a drama based on the true story of John du Pont (Steve Carell) the heir to a chemical fortune who also suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. During one such attack in 1996 he shot and killed his best friend, Olympic wrestler David Shultz, who Ruffalo will be playing if he signs up. Oh the joys of being shot.

Channing Tatum has been signed to play Mark Shultz, David’s younger brother and also a world champion wrestler. With such an eclectic cast this film should certainly be alluring. However, with Carell’s prominent comedy career it’ll be interesting to see if he can tackle such a serious issue as paranoid schizophrenia (Little Miss Sunshine tells me yes, Dinner For Schmucks tells me no).

Director Bennett Miller is looking to film in Pittsburgh this October as the casting seems to be falling into place. We’ll update you with information as it arrives.
