Yet Another Frankenstein Adaptation

Radio Silence may not be the first thing that comes to mind when I say “directorial quartet” (in fact I imagine nothing comes to mind), but this lot consisting of: Matt Bettenelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez and Chad Villella, are in talks with Lionsgate to fill-length feature, found-footage horror. To be honest it sounds kind of silly but the concept of mixing such a classic story with a modern and popular cinematic mode is rather interesting. I’m kind of sold.

There are perhaps too many Frankenstein Creature’s waddling about at the moment. There’s Guillermo Del Toro’s plan to get one on the big screen; there’s Shawn Levy and Max Ladnis’ upcoming version; an adaptation of Peter Ackroyd’s The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein; and one at Slasher Films, amongst others. It could be that Danny Boyle’s recent Frankenstein stage stint could have formed the inspiration but more likely it’s probably the fact that supernatural creepies are very much in vogue right now. All we need is for Frankenstein’s Creature to be a blood-sucking zombie that turns into a wolf in the full-moon and we’re sorted.

We’ll keep you updated with more Frankenstein news as and when it comes (which may just be every five minutes considering how many different projects there are).
