Will it ever end? Surely it has to at some point, but films like Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hobbit and Skyfall have got a heck of a lot to live up to and compete with as their releases stradle across the restof 2012 as Marvel’s combonation of Earth’s mightiest heroes has just surpassed all expectations and all bets are off.
The film now has the biggest opening weekend of all time at the US box office, beating by some distance the $169.1m opening for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 last summer. The film has also set records in the US for the biggest gross take on a Saturday ever, a Sunday too, and it’s inevitably therefore become the fastest film to pass the $200m mark at the US box office.
If you’ve still yet to see it, you really must witness this spectacle, the fact that the film has taken more than the entire US theatrical runs of The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America is utterly insane, we also stumbled across something rather awesome this morning.
The people over at Vulture conducted an experiment over the weekend, working out exactly how long each Avenger and Loki actually spend on screen in the film, the breakdowns aren’t all that surprising, with Hawlkeye scoring 12mins 44 as the least screen-time and unsurprisingly Iron Man and Cap’ America battling it out for the most screen time, both coming in at around 37mins each. If you want the full breakdown and the methodology check it out in full here or we’ve posted it on the next page for you as we genuinely think that it is that interesting.
