It’s quite a break from tradition for us to pay attention to developments of a remake, mainly because we’re actually interested in this one. For example, news has recently slipped concerning who is taking the role of God-fearing, cupboard-loving, Kimberly White in Carrie and we’d usually spit on the floor at the mere mention of such an idea, but it turns out they’ve got Julianne Moore for the part – this changes things a bit.
Deadline have confirmed what was hinted at a while back and that Moore has stopped circling the project and finally put her name down to star as mother dearest to Chloe Moretz’ Carrie White, the bullied high school student who throws a bit of a hissy and ruins prom night with the power of her mind.
Kimberly Pierce of Boys Don’t Cry fame is handling directing duties and we have to admit that it’s a fine team that is starting to build around what could have been another rubbish remake. With Moore involved though, we’ve now got a strong double-act to highlight the fractured relationship between mother and mind-bending daughter and it’s one we can’t wait to see. More on this as it develops, kiddies.
