It turns out that microphone swaying, chest bounding rock god of upcoming musical Rock Of Ages Tom Cruise can do more than just sing – he can act as well. Yep, it turns out that after he’s done singing along with the rest of the cast for that upcoming..uh, sing-along he’ll be appearing as literary tough nut lawyer Jack Reacher in upcoming adaptation One Shot. Cool name eh? Well, you can kiss it goodbye actually because it’s gone and had itself a name change.
Coming from THR and the recent chit-chat from Cruise himself, it turns out that One Shot, the first adaptation of Jack Reacher novels is called just that; Jack Reacher. Look at it – doesn’t it…pop?
The film will see Cruise play the titled attorney who is called in to crack a case when a sniper who has apparently taken five lives already calls for him personally to defend him. Now Reacher immediately declines believing full well that this sniper is a wrong ‘un and should pay for his crimes but he soon discovers that all is not as it seems.
The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and sees Cruise accompanied by Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins, David Oyelowo. There’s also the added bonus of barmy director Werner Herzog who has had his encounters with snipers in the past anyway so we’re sure he could give his opinion on the subject quite well. We look forward to seeing all of it when the film arrives in December.
