Even with the various stills we’ve seen of Mega City One’s most feared lawman, there’s been very little effort in terms of good old fashioned promo work for upcoming comic book adaptation Dredd. Thankfully though, the folks over at JoBlo have got you covered having been blessed with the first official poster for the film which stinks of brooding badassery.
Whilst it’s still unable to confirm with this poster or any other recent material whether this will be better than Stallone’s shameful 1995 film that still has comic book aficionado’s spitting on the floor at the mere mention of it, this latest entry does have a lot going for it. For starters, we’ve got Dredd stuck in a very constricted situation when he finds himself trapped in one of Mega City One’s most feared tower blocks trying to deal with top criminal cowbag, Madeline ‘Ma-Ma’ Madrigal (Lena Headley). The perks with this version seem pretty clear, firstly it’s been clarified that Karl Urban’s future lawman won’t remove his helmet at all in the film staying true to 2000AD’s poster boy and not only that he’s got a top-notch co-star in the form of Headley who has proved to have gained a masters in manipulative bitchiness thanks to her turn out in Game Of Thrones.
Anyway check out the poster and pictures for Dredd below and keep your fingers crossed that a film trailer hits our screens very soon before Mega City One’s top lad arrives September 7.
