First Poster For The Master Is Cryptic

The long awaited and much anticipated next film from the mind of Paul Thomas Anderson, The Master has been shrouded in more mystery than the operation’s and events of the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. 

It really was 2007′s There Will Be Blood when we last saw Paul Thomas Anderson in the directors chair so the temptation of his latest offering that sees Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd, a preacher of sorts – a World War II veteran who finds solace and comfort in religion as a way of coping with the trauma of his experiences.

Along for the ride are drifter (and we assume drinker judging by the taste of this promotional poster?) Freddie Sutton played by Joaquin Phoenix, also an army man, finding himself discharged he falls under Dodd’s spell. 

We have no idea what the wine bottle inspired poster is all about but we do know that we quite like it. What do you think? Maybe all will be explained come November 9th.
