For the audiences that managed to sit down for it there were a number of impressed folk surprised at Josh Trank’s crazy camcorder superhero take, Chronicle (our own Ben McCarthy wasn’t one of them though) and after its mild success a number of comic book capers were being thrown at the director in the hope that one would stick. Now Deadline are reporting that 20th Century Fox have confirmed the almost forgotten rumours that he’s been offered to reboot The Fantastic Four which has just been added to his to-do list.
Being regarded as the weakest of the Marvel comic book adaptations in the past if not for Chris Evans hot shot presence as Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, the story sees a family of scientists go on a mission into space only to come back with well…erm, fantastic superpowers.
It’s obviously familiar territory for Trank to work with flying super beings but considering that Fox will undoubtedly chuck a fairly large sum of money at this one then the Chronicle director will have a lot more to work with this time. The question is who will this superhero family consist of now it’s most popular member of the original four is now fighting alongside The Avengers as Captain America? We’ll just have to wait and see.
