One of the most popular genres of film to be given the spoof treatment is easily the covert spy films, with In Like Flint, Get Smart, Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, Spy Hard, Carry On Spying and many others we hardly need a new one but this one will certainly have a difference or three , as it’ set to be written by Sacha Baron Cohen.
The last we saw of him was obviously in the rather outrageous The Dictator earlier this year and now he and his writing partner, Phil Johnston (he wrote Cedar Rapids) have our very own 007 in the sights as they are set to send up the British super-spy with a plot that apparently follows this:
“…forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan”
It sounds utterly ludicrous but don’t most of Sacha Baron Cohen’s ideas? We’l reserve judgement for now until more details are revealed, we’re betting Danny Dyer won’t be getting a casting invite call though.
