Meet the Team

James Gordon | Twitter

Film fanatic and self confessed super-nerd, James loves nothing more than a movie which can be both thought-provoking and intelligent.

Favourite film(s): Tie between Donnie Darko and (500) Days of Summer

Film pet peeve(s): Films which think giant cgi explosions count as substitutes for plot or character development.

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: This is England

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Raiders of the Lost Ark

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Robert De Niro

Why? One of the absolute all-time greats; the stories that man could tell about various directors and other actors would be priceless.

Ben McCarthy | Twitter | LinkedIn

Born in Northern Ireland. My first cinematic experience was Tom And Jerry: The Movie in 1992. But moved onto Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Batman Forever in 1995. But my love for films really kicked into high gear when my mother bought me a film magazine when I was 13 and never looked back since. My favourite directors are Christoper Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann, Paul Greengrass and Terrance Malick – even Roland Emmerich.

Favourite film(s): Goodfellas, L.A. Confidential, The Dark Knight, Manhunter, JFK

Film pet peeve(s): Brett Ratner, Nevdiene/Taylor, and The Da Vinci Code

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: The Dark Knight Rises

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: The French Connection

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Martin Scorsese

Why? He’s the king of American cinema and crime/gangster genre

Nicholas Staniforth | Twitter

Born and bred in the badass streets of Nottingham, not much is known about Nick. He is a top secret operative whose often blunt and brutal opinion on films has started bar fights and split up families. He also likes long walks on the beach, freshly cut grass and the stunned silence of a ‘Twilight’ fan when he tells them the film series is average at best.

Favourite film(s): As Good As It Gets, Heat, Marathon Man, Casablanca, Goodfellas, The Dark Knight, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Happy Little Toaster, No Country for Old Men

Film pet peeve(s): Walking away from explosions and not flinching. It’s not big and it’s not clever.

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, Back to the Future

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Any mentioned above!

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Tom Hardy, Russell Crowe, George Clooney, and Scarlett Johannson

Why? Because they are all complete LADS and she is just... well, just awesome.

Whether it’s a video game or a film I’m always thinking about something digital. It really can’t be helped. I think I have a real problem. Good thing I’ve found a nice crowd of people to enable me eh. I’m a huge fan of Anime and Sci-Fi; I tend to shy away from the big summer action flicks (unless they’re comic book related) in favour of something different. I’m always writing about something, somewhere, so you may have seen me around before, lurking in the shadows...I am the symbol the city needs – STOP! Heh, wrong secret identity. Needless to say I love films, games and I love having a laugh with friends. I’m always open for questions and debates so feel free to shoot me some mail sometime. Fan-Mail preferred. Hate-Mail accepted.

Favourite film(s): ): Phonebooth, Sherlock Holmes, Hellboy and Howls Moving Castle

Film pet peeve(s): Great Plot but Bad Acting

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Akira (1988)

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Se7en

Person/people you’d most like to interview: : Leonardo DiCaprio

Why? : As an actor he’s grown phenomenally since Titanic, and as a result I’d love to discuss with how much further he’s going to take his career. Will he venture down the twisted dark path that Dear Ol’ Mr. Depp has taken? Or will he go down a tamer route? I believe DiCaprio is one of the most amazing actors of the generation – Shutter Island, Inception and The Man InThe Iron Mask are testaments to this.

I'm a huge lover of all types of films; the ones that I really look forward to are the summer comic-book releases. 3-D films can go to hell in my book, waste of space! I may be the youngest member of the Screen 22 team, but trust me: if a film is terrible, I will let you all know.

Favourite film(s): The Dark Knight, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, Superman 1 and 2, Blade Runner, Taxi Driver

Film pet peeve(s): When comic-book adaptations do not follow the source or move away from the actual character (i.e. Superman Returns)

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Superman 2

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: The Great Escape

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese

Why? They have all individually taken film to the next level in their own ways.

Rebecca Wojturska | Twitter | LinkedIn

Having thrown herself into the world of film four years ago, Becky worked her way up at Nottingham Trent’s 'Platform' Magazine from film critic to film editor. Having graduated she now works freelance and has had articles, reviews and interviews published on websites such as Platform-online.net, Britfilms.tv and Screen22.co.uk.

Favourite film(s): Pan's Labyrinth, Citizen Kane, It’s a Wonderful Life, Top Secret!

Film pet peeve(s): Toilet humour – it’s never witty or funny.

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Any horror; they’re the best kind of films to bring audience reactions together which works wonderfully in a smaller screen.

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Any James Stewart film; no one could ever create the same lovable effect he had on films.

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Tom Hanks

Why? He’s one of the most versatile actors I’ve ever seen and he seems like one of those rare down-to-earth guys who I’d like to have a pint with.

Amy Gathercole | Website | LinkedIn

Confession time: I didn't watch Star Wars until I was 24, I don't alphabetise my film collection, I'll happily admit to liking bad films and Daniel Craig is my least favorite 007.

Favourite film(s): High Fidelity, Leon, The Breakfast Club, Almost Famous, Toy Story Trilogy

Film pet peeve(s): Far too obvious plots that you establish from the trailer

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Se7en, Jurassic Park,

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Singing in the Rain, Grease, Back to the Future

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Nicolas Cage

Why? I find him and his career moves fascinating

Angela Gorton | Twitter

Just a small town girl fighting her way around the interwebs. While I typically have more experience dealing with Airplane parts I’m now reviewing for as long as Amy lets me. Be gentle it’s my first time.

Favourite film(s): Jurassic Park, Once, The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back, The Harry Potter Series, Anchorman. I can go on, but it’s nothing Oscar worthy.

Film pet peeve(s): Excessive lens flare, continuity errors and Kristen Dunst in general.

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: The Dark Knight Rises

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: The Birds. The original terrified me enough. Tied with Jurassic Park though, for sentimental reasons.

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Johnny Depp

Why? : We’re birthday twins so I know we’d hit it off…and my husband is aware he’s on my top 5 list so….bonus!

Neil Gorton | Twitter

Movie and Videogame reviewer by royal appointment

Favourite film(s): The Losers, The Dark Knight, Aliens

Film pet peeve(s): Lack of car chases/robots

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Jurassic Park

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Rocky Horror Picture Show

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Nic Cage

Why? I suspect he may be an alien and id like to catch him out

Stu Duncan | Website | Twitter

Geek since birth, my love of films started with watching Star Wars & Ray Harryhausen movies as a kid & developed into a unhealthy addiction to watching any film I can get my hands on. Unless it stars Jennifer Lopez - you've got to have standards!

Favourite film(s): The Empire Strikes Back, Silent Running, Aliens, Hellraiser

Film pet peeve(s): Pointless or badly done CGI

Film(s) you can’t wait to watch at Screen 22: Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back

Film(s) you NEVER want to see a remake of: Jason and the Argonauts

Person/people you’d most like to interview: Stan Lee

Why? He's Stan Lee!
